Dr. Manz is an oncologist interested in correctional medical practice. He has done original research on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in the correctional milieu in his work at Dana Farber. We expect that he will share some of his research results with us and will be looking for our active input and comments, which I am sure participants will gladly provide.
Dr. Manz graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 2012. He received his training in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 2012-2015, and subsequently worked as a hospitalist in oncology at the same hospital until 2017. After completing fellowship in hematology/oncology and a Masters of Science in Health Policy Research at the University of Pennsylvania, he joined Harvard/Dana-Farber in GI Oncology and the Department of Population Sciences 2020.
Objectives:
1) Learn about the health policy research being done through the Dana Farber Cancer Institute on oncology prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in correctional settings.
2) Understand disparities in cancer outcomes among various demographic groups.
3) Discuss best practices in oncology practices in the correctional setting.
4) Suggest possible enhancements in primary correctional practice relating to oncologic services.
We hope you can participate and share your insights at this Correctional Medicine Grand Rounds session. We expect an informative session and a lively audience discussion!
Grand Rounds will continue to be held on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30PM Eastern time. We encourage you to attend, and to invite your friends and colleagues to attend this session, which will inform us on the management of cancer in the correctional setting, and concern itself with Dr Manz’s research into this important topic. Our input is important!
